Writing is obviously a passion of mine, but reading is subsequently a hobby that I enjoy as well. Curling up with a good book like Bottle of Uncertainty next to the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate is a perfect way to unwind. With my love of books also comes a love of book set ups where varieties can be displayed. Bookstores and libraries are prime examples of such places. Here are a list of beautiful libraries across the world.
The Central Library of Vancouver, Canada is a structure modeled after the Roman Colosseum. Comprising of nine floors, this building takes up an entire city block and includes shops, cafés, offices, and even a rooftop garden! This library has literature numbering around half a million items that includes books, e-books, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, and magazines.
The Trinity College Old Library in Dublin, Ireland is what most consider to be a classic library aesthetic. This building began construction in 1712 and houses over seven million volumes of books. It has many ancient texts such as “The Book of Kells,” “The Book of Durrow,” and “The Book of Howth.”
The Admont Abbey Library in Admont, Austria is a gorgeous structure that is attached to the oldest remaining monastery in Styria. It contains the largest monastic library in the world. The interior has a very light and airy feel about it that I would, one day, love to experience myself.
The Royal Portuguese Reading Room in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a gorgeous library that looks truly fit for a king or queen. The interior is comprised of dark wood arches, stained glass windows, and vibrant blue ceilings that makes it look more like a piece of art. This library houses around 350,000 books.
The Rampur Raza Library in Rampur, India is a gorgeous palace-like building which was converted into a library in the 1950’s. Along with consisting of a gorgeous outer shell, this library contains many collections of Indian and Asian works, including manuscripts, historical documents, Islamic calligraphy, and even the original manuscript of the first translation of the Qur’an.
